Bethel is a very large village located west of Scarborough. It is bounded by the Prospect, Mt. Irvine and New Grange Estates. The word Bethel means ‘House of the Lord’. Bethel village however was named after a famous slave who lived on the plantation there. |

Festivities related to the Wedding will begin on the Friday night before the Wedding. The night’s activities will be known as the Bachelor Night and will include tambourine music, various dances and all activities expected to occur on such a night.

The Buccoo Point village Council in collaboration with the Youth League presents Buccoo Day. The theme of this presentation is “Come see Come sah” and the operations will be held at the Buccoo Goat Race facilities. The main highlights will be the goat and crab races, but other activities are planned to make the day both educational and entertaining. These activities include the following: Goat Races – There will be a total of eight (8) Goat races and two (2) races in the four (4) classes – A,B,C, and Juveniles. Crab Race – There will be one (1) International and Local Crab race. Reef Tours – Glass bottom boats will be used for conducting tours of the Buccoo Reef Complex for the visitors. The areas targeted are as follows: Golden Grove Lagoon No Man’s Land Nylon Pool Food and Drinks – Various local dishes will be on sale during the day. Souvenir and Literary Corner – This unit will be located in the meeting hall located on the Goat Race Track and will consist of information on the past and present lifestyle of Buccoo Point. Printed T Shirts representing the various Buccoo Festivals will be on sale for all visitors There will be a display area for Artifacts of long ago.
