Welcome to the Tobago Heritage Festival 2007 - the premier cultural activity on Tobago‘s Calendar of Events. This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the staging of this great event, and also serves to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Atlantic Slave Trade. The 2007 edition of the Tobago Heritage Festival runs from Friday July 13th to Wednesday August 1st 2007 under the theme Ancestral Joys Proclaimed. Activities on the Heritage Calendar of Events are divided into village productions and Committee productions. As the names imply, Village productions are those shows produced and presented by the villages themselves, while Committee shows are produced by the Tobago Festivals Committee, which manages the entire Festival. Committee shows are usually priced at $40.00 for Adults and $20.00 for Children, while Village Shows are normally $20.00 for Adults and $10.00 for Children. The Tobago Heritage Festival 2007 is an event not to be missed and we look forward to seeing you in Tobago. |

Each year the Festival generates huge amounts of activities in Tobago. To some extent Trinidad contributes to the brouhaha as persons from the bigger island seek their roots or just come to the parties.
Corporate entities are not slow to realise the potential for visibility and indeed some firms have 'bought into' particular segments heavily enough to create concern that the festdays become too heavily branded. |

The Heritage Festival primarily hopes to divulge things about Tobago as it pertains to anthropological and geographical history This means it attracts anyone who has an interest in the way people lived, and in the way the old ones interacted with the land they lived off.
There is another aspect - the historical side. Tobago was subject to many changes based on events taking place on the both sides of the Atlantic at the turn of the 18th century. |
