Festflash

The Festival begins on July 13th 2007. Over the two week period each village will attempt to venerate, celebrate or narrate pieces of Tobago history. Natural legacies are also part of the Festival, and account for numerous forays into the physical characteristics of the land and sea. Heritage Festival 2007 culminates in an Emancipation Day parade and Food Fair at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

Are there villages not included in the Heritage Festival?

Over the years other villages have participated in the Tobago Heritage Festival. Even when there is no staged production in a village, these 'other villages' prove their support for the festival by taking part in the supporting activities.

Of course the contributions are acknowledged by the Heritage Committee and all other parties concerned.

Here are the villages who have taken part in some measure over the years the Heritage Festival has been commorated.

  • MT. CULLANE - A combination of three villages; Mt Thomas, Culloden and Golden Lane.
    They presented Courtship Codes
  • NORTHSIDE COMBINED - are the villages of Castara, Parlatuvier, L'Anse Fourmi and Bloody Bay.
They presented many forms of dance and song over the years.
  • MT.PLEASANT - presented the Nutt'n Day or Crop Over part of the festival
  • DELAFORD - presented YABBA which is an African derived word meaning 'a taste of everythng that's good'.
  • MT.ST. GEORGE - has appeared several times on the Heritage calendar
  • CANAAN and BON ACCORD at one time hosted the "Games we used to play'.
  • ROXBOROUGH - presented at one time the 'Belmanna Riots'.
  • PATIENCE HILL - presented the Dance Festival.
  • CALDER HALL - also appeared on the Festival calendar

The Steelbands have drawn memberships from each village thus their input spreads the participatory feeeling among all citizens.
