Festflash

The Festival begins on July 13th 2007. Over the two week period each village will attempt to venerate, celebrate or narrate pieces of Tobago history. Natural legacies are also part of the Festival, and account for numerous forays into the physical characteristics of the land and sea. Heritage Festival 2007 culminates in an Emancipation Day parade and Food Fair at the Pigeon Point Heritage Park.

The village of Plymouth invites all of you to put on some costume and come 'play yourself' at the Old time Tobago type Carnival

mas Plymouth is named after the older town in England. It was from here that the ships took off to the Old World with their cargoes of sugar in the late 1700's.

At the 2006 Heritage Festival presentation of the Old Time Carnival, Plymouth villagers start off with an Old Mas competition at 5.AM. People will parade to music carrying placards as they caricature most any topic or personage.

In the afternoon, say about 3.PM or so, there will be fully costumed bands in traditional cloak of long ago.
Included in the lineup are the Dame Lorraine, Wild Indians, Moko Jumbies, Ju-Ju warriors, sailors, Midnight robbers, Firemen, and so on.

Groups of characters depict the Speechband, Tamboo Bamboo musicians, blue devils, and Burrokeets.
